Default Dishwasher does not dry the dishes
Model Number: FDB2810LDC1   Brand: Frigidaire   Age: 1 - 5 years

The dishwasher is not drying the water from the dishes. I am a Master Tech for GM and can diagnose this but I do not have a manual. What should the ohms be across the element? Is there a thermostat or something to turn it on? Please help as a baby is here and funds are to tight to call in a repairman. Thanks

Was the dishwasher drying ok before??
I do believe the frigidaire dishwashers have a small bi-metal thermostat located on the bottom of the tub that if it opens it would stop the heater from coming on. Have not seen many heating element failures in the 18 years of fixing appliances. Thermostat is black and silver with two wires going to it.

Ripley's,

Do I just use an ohmmeter,(Fluke 87), to check the thermostat? The Frigidaire website says it is a re-setting type thermostat. How do I check the operation of this type? Thanks
Rob

also check water hardness ... make sure you only use 1 tblsn of detergent .. also, MUST USE JET DRY ( or any rinse agent, put it in the dispenser and set accordingly ... ) also, should NOT pre-rinse your dishes before putting them in the d/w .. use the Rinse/Hold cycle instead of pre-rinsing in the sink ...

Default Testing the "re-setting" style thermostat

But how do I test the re-setting type thermostat? Can I test it without the dishwasher running? Is the thermostat "normally closed" when in an idle state? If so, then when it "opens", is that when the element is not energized? If that is the case, then I should have resistance when the dishwasher is not operating correct? I think it is the thermostat, but I just need guidance on how to test it properly.

Thanks, Masterteck4gm

Thumbs up High Temp Thermostat

Thanks Ripley's,

I checked the Thermostat and it is open. It had burnt one of the terninal connectors, but I will rewire a new one on when I install the T-Stat. Thanks for your help.
