Leaking Kenmore dish-w
Kenmore 'Ultra' 11, model 665 168 12990 (the '2990' is a 'new' number at Sears, an 'updated number')
Broken glass, slight noise while in process but enough to make one look. Removed lower spin-sprayer, and lower enclosed screen. Removed impeller 'cap', by removing hex head, quarter inch nut, with affixed gasket)
Slid impeller cap off, reaching actual impeller, the underside of which has flat, white, 3-eighths, apparent washer purpose, as part of actual impeller. Four 'main screws', apparently hold screened enclosed basket, with bottom screening as well, tightly to the central pump unit on floor of tub. Cleaned entire area, some old pot and pan nuts, some minor rust, glass pieces the apparent cause of noise, no obvious damage to any parts.
Reassembled, now leaks dead center, at motor axle, once refill begins and underneath of course.
It seems that the impeller, seats against a coated spring fixed against the tub housing and when top nut is tightened against impeller 'cap', the white underside washer must press against the coated, three tier compression spring, then making seal? I've looked very closely for any other place for such leakage. So, would it be the impeller washer, or that coated spring at the motor axle, but apparently attached to the tub frame? In other words, what would a guy replace?
Obvious advance thanks for any advice
