The vent located at the upper right side of the front of our Kenmore dishwasher will no longer close. This means that when the dishwasher is in wash mode, water splashes out from the vent.

I thought it was the vent/vent actuator, so I ordered a new unit, but that didn't solve the problem. A little bit of testing showed the vent to be working fine.

Here's the problem, when the wire harness for the vent (connecting it to the control board and to power source) is disconnected from the vent actuator, it appears to work properly. That is to say, when disconnected, there is power running from the control board at the appropriate times (at startup to close the vent and at drying to open the vent). When I connect the actuator, however it goes dead, there is no longer any voltage running from the control panel to the actuator.

Is this a problem with the control panel? With the wiring?

Thanks!
