Here are your parts.
Replacement parts for General Electric GSD2000Z04WH Dishwasher | AppliancePartsPros.com I do not think it is a pump problem. This unit has a single pump that does both the wash and the drain so if the unit washes then the pump is OK. If the pump does not run during drain then odds are it is a timer problem. If it does then you may have a plugged drain or a problem with the wash/drain flapper. FYI: The way it works is the timer activates the solenoid for a couple seconds. This pulls the solenoid plunger down and moves the flapper to the drain position. The water pressure then holds the flapper in the drain position till the unit is empty. Then the springs pull the flapper back to the wash position (plunger up).

Thanks for the reply Denman.
You think it the timer not the pump? As long as the water is coming in and not draining the pump is ok? I will need the timer then and not the pump. Thanks for your response in advance. I will try that. |

Not really. The important fact is if the pump is running during wash. If it does not run ever than it could be the pump. If the pump just buzzes then it could be something jammed in the chopper etc.

The pump is running and supplying water and fills up the dishwasher. When the drain cycle goes it activates the solenoid but does not pump the water out. The timer knob is going it's on cycle and turns as the timer cycles. How can I check and clean the chopper? Let me know. Thanks.

When the drain cycle goes it activates the solenoid but does not pump the water out.
Check that the flapper valve is moving into the drain position when the solenoid plunger is down. the only difference between wash and drain is that in wash the water is directed up through the wash arms by the flapper and in drain it is directed out the drain. So if it washes then it should drain if the flapper is OK. Also have you checked that the drain is OK and not plugged.

Yes it is in the pump housing
Part number: AP2616850 Click on the picture and a new page will open with more views. Look at the center view and you can see it on the left hand side of the pump throat. It has the little black tip in the center.

I was looking at the center image. Do i need to take it apart to be able to clean it out? Do you have the step by step procedures on how to take it apart and put it back? I'm trying to avoid purchasing a new dishwasher if i can get this one working again. let me know. Thanks.

You have to remove the spray arms to see the flapper.
The following should help http://appliancejunk.com/forums/inde...=view;down=320 You have to join the site to download the manual but it is free and this is a very good site for manuals and other info for the appliance repair DIYer. There is also some info on this site http://www.applianceaid.com/dishwash.html To see the chopper you remove the cover (Item 506 i Section 3). take note how the internal piece goes in. If you reinstall it the wrong way then the chopper will eat it. To ensure the drain is clear unhook the drain hose at the house plumbing and let it drain into a pail. Be sure to hold the drain hose securely and put a towel or rag over the pail so water does not splash all over. Looking over your previous posts you say that water is entering the machine when you start it. This is confusing because if it is not pumping out water should not enter the unit. The machine would be full of water and the float switch which prevents over filling would kill power to the water valve.
