Hi,my dishwasher was working fine, until my cat knocked over pitcher of cool-aide,and entire contents spilled down the front of dishwasher.Next day,no controlls on the panel would work or light up. So i peeled the panel apart to see if i could clean, and really did not see any red cool-aid inside the panel parts. So i pulled out control board and inspected it,did not see anything burned,or kool aid on it. So while every thing was apart,I closed the door switch, and part of panel lit up. So i tried using one of controls that were lit,and dishwasher started to fill, and time on the digital display came on.So i pushed cancel, and put it all back together thinking,i may have fixed it.
After it was all together, nothing worked again. After taking apart numerous times, and getting same results i gave up.
A little background on this washer. I purchased in 2002-2003.I rairly used the unit,since i am a bachelor.,about 1to 3 times a month.Always worked great.Now that its been broken,it has sat,unused for 8 to 10 months i believe.
I see that i can order the control panel, and the board, and return them if they do not remedy the problem,so i am thinking of doing so,but my fear is the seal may be no good now,and if i start to use,it may leak.wanted to know your opinion on this.
I also am curious, why it seamed like when i had the panel out, that if i moved the ribbon, that connects to the panel,i would get some lights to light up,then when i put back,it does not work. This unit had never been opened until the cool aide incident,so everything looks new,and cant see how ribbon,or connections to it,were compromised.
So i wanted to know your opinion, about ordering both parts,to see if it would make the repair, and if you feel i would have any other problems, after doing so, like leakage,or anything else.
Hope i described the issue good enough for you to help, would like to get unit working again,it always worked so well, and is probably cost over 1000.00 today to replace it, thanks so much, mike
