Default Check Valve for Kitchenaid Dishwasher
Model Number: KUDSO1FLSS1   Brand: Kitchen Aid   Age: 1 - 5 years

I am getting "coffee ground type residue" on the glassware in the top rack. I ordered a new chopper assembly but believe I need to replace the check valve as well. I am not sure where it is located however. I would appreciate it if someone could offer some assistance as to where it is located in the dishwasher and how to replace it.

thank you.

When you are in replacing the chopper, just to the right in the sump is the check valve leading to the drain pump. Use some needle nose pliers and pull the old one out, and then just slip the new one in place.

Thank you for the quick response. I should be able to locate it now. I was afraid it was only accessible from underneath the unit.

Happy new year.

Inspect your old chopper end, the white ends that engage the pump impeller. If it was worn badly, you must also replace the motor impeller. You will need to pull dw for this.
The check valve allows back flushing of the chopper screen at pump out periods.
