soap control won't stay shut
Model Number: HDA400X.68A Brand: Hotpoint Age: 5 - 10 years
Age is unknown,have been in house 8 yrs though.
Soap door will not stay shut.Dissambeled and only saw a minor flaw in the control arm(white) reassembled,ran and door did not open=opened manually and now will not close again. Ads By Google Related Models

The problem with your dishwasher is a broken off plastic pin on the escutcheon for the timer lever spring (#837 on the #1 break down diagram).
Unfortunately the new escutcheon is no longer available. Gene.
