We have a dishwasher that gets hot like it is in the dry mode but, none of the buttons on the panel in the front will light up. It will not come on (no water, etc.) at all. It was used on Sunday and worked fine. We came home on Monday and it smelled bad in the house (like plastic burning) and figured out it was the dishwasher. It had not been run that day. Does anyone have any idea what it could be?

Most likely the problem with your dishwasher is a shorted out control board. Also I would check the power cord connection to the dishwasher for the reversed polarity (the neutral wire should be connected to the neutral and the hot wire to the hot) and check if the heating element is not shorted to the ground. - The part number for the control board is AP3214958 - The part number for the heating element is AP2109109 Good luck.
