Model Number: kudso 1fl ss2 Brand: Kitchen Aid Age: 5 - 10 years
The dishwasher is not drying the dishes. According to the repairman this model does not come with a heated drying cycle, only an energy saving dry cycle. He said that he could install a heat dry unit along with a control panel that would provide that option for around $500.
After speaking with a tech at AppliancePartsPro, I don't think he was giving us the correct info. What do I need in order to have a heat dry cycle that would dry the dishes? Thank you Wayne Ads By Google Related Models |

Did it use to dry the dishes?
If (and it's a big if) what the technicians said was correct I would think that the control board and control panel would need to be replace from a model that had the dry cycle.

What option do your buttons give you on the front of your dishwasher now?

I would think with 'energy save dry' selected the dishes would drip dry and without it selected it would use the heater to dry them.
For the fun of you you should ask the technician that looked at it and see what he says about the 'energy save dry' option.

To check the heating element I would simple disconnect the power to the dishwasher, remove the wires from the heating element and check it with my ohm meter. I believe the control board that is in your dishwasher now already has the option you are looking for, it's just not working.

Here is a copy of the tech sheet for your model dishwasher.
It includes a troubleshooting guide that may help you better diagnose the problem.
