I have a Whirpool diswasher that does not fill to the proper level. It fills part way then water shuts off. I can hear the pump sucking air. If I open it, restart the timer to beginning, and restart, It continues to fill and pump no longer cavitates. Is the fill cycle time based? Is it adjustable? I don't see any restriction to slow the water flow unless there is a filter or screen someplace...

Thanks

The first thing I would do is replace the water inlet valve (#26 on the tub break down diagram).

The water inlet valve has a screen inside, which most likely is clogged with a hard water deposits.

- The part number for the water inlet valve is AP3050333

- Here are the break down diagrams for the Whirlpool dishwasher Model DU8900XT1
