Model Number: SHU43C Brand: Bosch Age: 1 - 5 years
we run our dishwasher at least once a day...we are growing mold on the inside drain and on other parts inside the machine...
we clean it throughly and slowly the smell starts again and then the mold. There is no food that is visible in the drain catcher...could it be from a poorly working drain...I see standing water when I left the drain strainer...Any help would be great...nothing in the manual.... |

How is the drain hose connected to the garb. disp?
Does it have an air gap on top of the sink? Gene.

see if you can determine whether you have soft or hard water... sometimes it might be as simple as NOT pre-rinsing your dishes ( utilize the RINSE / HOLD program properly ) and only using suggested doseage of POWDERED detergent... ( may have too high a concentration of soap / detergent ) .. run d/w with no dishes etc and no detergent on economy for 9 minutes or more and then open door .. check if you have suds or not ... If so, reduce detergent doseage.. also, check wasteline to make sure it is draining well .. remove drain hose from disposal / sink tail piece and have d/w drain into a bucket.. you'll see a strong "stream" or flow of water... if it "dribbles" out , that is certainly a problem...

We don't have a garbage dispos. ...the water is fairly soft and the machine runs at least once or twice a day...several of our sinks seem to be draining slow...we are on a septic system...could there be any connection...

european d/w's use much less water than typical domestic d/w's ... you need to adjust detergent to soil level and water hardness... typically 15ml of detergent ( 1 tblspn ) is more than enough powdered detergent for most BOSCH d/w loads ( need to saturate water with detergent, not super-saturate.. ) The gel packets are too much detergent for European d/w's... Also, NO pre-rinsing of dishes and no "cleaning" of sponges in the d/w... ( the d/w has a Rinse/Hold cycle to prevent food stuffs from sticking to your dishes and silverware. ) All of these tips can be confirmed by calling BOSCH directly ... you may want to test the hardness of your water if you have well water, if you have "city" water, your water hardness is controlled by your local. Try two 8 oz glasses of water.. leave both of them out, one with a splash of liquid soap and the other w/o remember to mix well.. ( But you must leave them in a dark , closed enviornment ).. the soapy one will get musty and moldy before the other ... make sure you are using your liquid rinse agent and rinse agent dispenser should be set between 2 &3 ...

Make sure there is a high loop in the drain hose at least 20" above the floor.
Gene.
