When my dishwasher starts to run a wash, it will do it's normal, initial rinse, but when the wash cycle kicks in it has problems. It washes about 5 seconds & quits. It will wait about a minute & try again for 5 seconds & quits. It does this 3 or 4 times & is done. It doesn't drain itself, but it will when I hit "cancel". I've checked the arms & nothing is locked up. I've removed the racks to make sure nothing was in the way, but same problem.

Most likely the problem is a bad motor.

In order to provide the most accurate advise I need the complete model number of the dishwasher.

According to the serial number you provided, the dishwasher was made in March of 2004 and is less then 4 years old.

The limited manufacturer warranty on the wash system and the electronic control parts is 5 years ("Use and care" manual, page 15).

My advise is to call the Maytag for service.
