Dishwasher Repair

We removed our old Kitchenaid dishwasher about 10 years ago and it is stored in our basement. Is it safe to re-install it? I heard the seals dry out causing it to leak. Is that true? And, if so, is it easy/inexpensive to replace the seals? Thanks.

A model number may help others help you.

Yes seal etc. can dry out over time.

Usually they can be replaced at a reasonable cost.

Thanks. That sounds like an easy fix. When they say the seals dry out, is this the only seal, the door seal? Are there others? Thanks again.

More likely that seals in the motor/pump would dry out.

Before running the unit (turning the water on) add a couple quarts of hot water to it so that the pump does not run when it is dry.
