bentwrench-ref to whirlpool dryer-pusn on button dryer starts--let go of button dryer stops. what is the problem, if it were the motor why would it stay running as long as switch held in?

Most likely the problem with your dryer is a bad control board.

Normally it should sense the start button and it does not.

- The part number for the control board is AP3964014

- Here are the break down diagrams for the Whirlpool dryer Model GGQ9858JQ0
