Model Number: kuds24sebl1 Brand: Kitchen Aid Age: 5 - 10 years
Kitchenaid dishwasher
model number kuds24sebl1 lower door seal kit part number AP3102987 Whirlpool replacement part 4172127 When I purchased this lower door seal in a local store they gave me the whirlpool replacement for this part and it is only 1/2" wide and therefore does not keep the water in the dishwasher. This seal needs to be 3/4" wide. Do you think I will find the original part, or do a need another solution? Thanks for your help. Keith Ads By Google Related Models |

The manufacturer replaced the original part number 9742631 with the new part number 4172127.
This part comes with the complete installation instructions and should fit properly. Gene.

Gene,
Thanks for the reply. I have part number 4172127, it is too narrow and does not make a seal when the door is closed. Part number 4172127 is 1/2" wide and the original part (which is wearing out and falls off the bottom of the door) is 3/4" wide. It is frustrating that the manufacturer has replaced the original part with a new part that doesn't work. I like the dishwasher and otherwise it works quite well. I suppose that I need to find a supplier with the old part or the manufacturer needs to review their parts. Or, I thought I might find someone who had figured out a work around for this issue. Thanks for taking a look at my post. I followed the directions carefully, I am over 50 now and at about 47 I started reading instructions before doing anything........
so I replaced the door stops and then installed the seal on the bottom of the door and then turned on the machine. Water leaks out fast, cups of it. Then I put the old one on carefully (it falls off each time you open the door) and the water stops running out the bottom of the door. The seal just plain needs to be wider to reach from the bottom of the door to the floor of the tub. I was hoping to find someone who had done this particular replacement and dealt with the insufficient width of the seal. Keith |

I tried a local sears and they did not have the part, so until I can order a new one, I just cut a length of garden hose and slit it down the length and slid it over the top of the existing gasket. It's working so good, I think I might just skip ordering a new one. It just kind of holds itself on.
