Is there a was to repair~temporarily fix teh latch assembly on a 23 year old Whirlpool dishwasher. The door fell to the floor a fews years ago and I was able to "rig" it some how to make it work right. In the fall the face broke and olny hangs by the wires that are conected to the parts inside the door. I was able to tape this shut so it worked like a charm. However, a week or so ago it stopped working and we are back to taking the face off and opening it manually by pressing the lever. All the diagrams of the part are just that no details on the parts or how I could fix it until we are ready to buy new.
Any ideas?

Thanks,
wlord

Here are your parts
Replacement parts for WHIRLPOOL DU6000XR0 | AppliancePartsPros.com

You could replace the door latch, Item 12 in the "Door" section.

Without actually being there to see what is broke on the latch I cannot suggest another jiggery pokery which would let the unit limp along for a while longer.

Might be time to go shopping.
