Default no water in whirlpool
Model Number: DU940QWDB3   Brand: Whirlpool   Age: 5 - 10 years

OK I changed the water inlet valve - still no action. I checked for voltage at the water inlet valvle and the float switch and got only a fraction of a volt on the fluke meter. Teh float switch clicks nicely and is not jammed. The controls light up, but they have some idiosynchrosies. The water heating and air dry modes seem to be permanently defaulting to on. We use it this way, but the dishwasher used to remember the latest setting. It no longer remembers the latest setting. Heater element quit warming - I wonder if the heat fuse blew. Does the lack of AC voltage at the water inlet valve and float switch indicate failure of the control board?

original message
Thanksgiving morning the dishwasher ceased working - water no longer flows in. The LEDs on the panel all work normally. The heater element still warms, so the control panel appears to be working. I read another posting that described checking continuity and voltage on on the inlet valve. Is the inlet valve a likely culprit? I have a volt -ohm meter, how does one check continuity (Is that resistance?). Thanks.
