Started to smell something from the dishwasher. Once I removed the kick plate I found one of the wires and the connector to the heater element badly burnt. I have checked the heater element and have a reading of 16.7 ohms. Should I replace the element or is it just a bad joint that needs to be cleaned and a new crimp put on...or is there something else I should be doing?

Thanks
Greg

The heater element looks OK
I would redo the connection.
Make sure no water is leaking down on it.
Also after the fix is done monitor the connection to make sure it is not overheating.
I would say to leave the kick plate off to make monitoring easier but this would be a bad idea if you have kids or pets.
