Sometimes when I disassemble the door looking at the controls the washer will fill on the first cycle. I check the float and the solenoid. When the solenoid works I can check power before the float and after the float. When it does not work I get no power from the controls to the float or the solenoid. I have also traced the wires to the timer and checked continuity. Any suggestions... New Timer?

Check for an intermittant power ground, usually a white wire. If ok, turn the timer and spray the contacts with a non residue cleaning spray like QD contact cleaner made by CRC and available at Lowes.
