My 5 year who uses everything in the house as gymnastic equipment busted the console on my KitchenAid dishwasher KUDR24SEBL2. I ordered the console PART ap3044866. I thought I would just need to screw it and the the control panel back on. Well...its not that easy the face plate/insert item ap2920804 is still in the old console and I don't know how to get it out---no screws...do I need a whole new faceplate and if I do how do I get it to adhere to the new console?

MOMMYKAY, Here is a response that was available from the APP parts Q&A and should apply to your dishwasher. I, never had a good enough outcome when dealing with a mylar panel insert, personally. You may want to consider a new insert as well ? Part number: AP2920804
"The insert sticks onto the display. You will need to carefully peel the insert off the old display and stick it onto the new display. Hope this helps." Good Luck, :cool: :cool: :cool:

Thanks Joe...I got it...now I cant get the screw holes to line up with the each other...I know its a snug fit but I feel like I'm going to bust those screw leads on the console if I force it on...any suggestions...am I doing it wrong?

Kay, The new console, is not "threaded" when you start the screws, they will be a "tight" fit, and somewhat hard to turn. You may want to "pre thread" the mounting tabs. Use one of the mounting screws, and slowly,carefully install the screw 1/2 way into the tab, on all the tabs, that way you'll be able to install the panel, a bit more easily, and you'll still get a good "purchase" when you get the console installed. Just remember to Not overtighten the scews, everything should line up and and seat properly as you tighten the screws. :) :) :)

:) :) :) I cant even get that far...the screw leads arent lining up at all...they are bumping into the door frame and wont line up with the holes to even be able to put a screw in.

Everything looks proper, from here ? This may help, Just in case, here are the instuctions from the service manual : REMOVING the CONSOLE The electronic control board, switch assembly and articulated vent are located inside the console area at the top of the door. 1. Open the dishwasher door. 2. Remove the four(4) Torx-head screws at the top of the stainless steel inner door panel. 3. Close the door and pull the top of the console away from the door. 4. Disconnect the ribbon cable from the control board. 5. Disconnect the rinse aid sensor connector from the switch. 6. Lift the console up to disengage the bottom tabs from the door frame and set the console aside. Replacing the Console NOTE: Be sure the black plastic moisture barrier is properly positioned over the control board before replacing the console. 1. Close the door, but do not latch it. 2. Engage the bottom tabs of the console in the door frame. 3. Connect the ribbon cable to the control board. 4. Connect the rinse aid sensor connector to the switch assembly. 5. Press the top of the consoleagainst the door, be sure the latching lever is properly positioned in the latch mechanism. 6. Open the door and replace the four(4) Torx-head screws at the top of the inner door panel. :) :) :)
