Dishwasher Repair

I have a GE Potscrubber 1200 (GSD1200G01) that stopped filling at wash start cycle, I checked the floater inside the washer to make sure that it was not stuck and could move freely up and down. I disconnected the washer's own supply wires to the water fill solenoid, applied an external 120 volt current (from a wall outlet) and turned the machine to the fill cycle and water started to flow. I then disconnected the external power to the solenoid and measured the current supplied by the washer. It measured only 28 volts. Why?

I was surfing on the internet and I ran across the suggestion to check the cables by the botton left part of the door. So I looked carefully and found a light brown wire broken. I cut it and solder it, reinsulate it and that was the problem. Everything runs like new once more.
