I am trying to remove the lower spray arm but no matter how much I turn the "screw" in the middle it will not unscrew. I've tried both clockwise and anti-clockwise, but it just keeps turning and never allows the arm to be removed. How do I get it off?

Hold the 'screw' in the middle with a pair of pliers, then try to spin the arm while holding the pliers stationary. I'm thinking it's anti-clockwise to remove, but if that doesn't work, try the other way. It should come right off.

Brian, thanks for the reply. I was holding the arm and turning the "screw." I tried your suggestion and just held the screw and turned the arm. Tried both directions. Still won't come off. It does seem like part of the way around it's very easy, and then there's some resistance, like it's rubbing or something. Looking at it, it looks like the screw might have a thread of some sort but it's not catching on anything to unscrew. Have I somehow stripped a thread? If so, what can I do to get this thing off?

At this point, the hub (AP3039146) is probably stripped so I would try and break the top half off and just replace it. Just be careful not to damage the spray arm as that will cost a bit more to replace. If you really need to get it off now, the delivery tube that runs up the back is held by a clip at the very top and a clip in the middle back. Gently pull the tube free from the tub and rotate the entire thing to the right and the whole thing, spray arm and all will come loose from the pump. Then you can get a better look at how it all goes together.

Brian, that's good info. I think I'll try that delivery tube trick. That way I may be able to see what's going on without destroying anything. I'll report back my results. Probably won't get to it 'til tomorrow.
