Default detergent release latch
Model Number: GSD600D   Brand: GE   Age: More than 10 years

My GE GSD600D dishwasher is about 20 years old and has been working well since we bought this house, until now. The cover on the detergent cup will not latch, so it releases all the detergent as soon as I close the door instead of during the cycle. Nothing appears broken on the inside but the spring is not attached to anything. Trying to help, my husband took it apart and does not remember exactly how it was positioned so I cannot figure out how to put it together. If I had advice or a picture or diagram of how it should be, I think I could fix it.
Thank you to anyone who can give me a hint.

Hi linjarob

The pin for the spring holding the detergent cup lid is located on the control panel under the timer. Most likely that pin broke which causing the lid not to stay closed. To fix the problem the control panel frame (escutcheon) has to be replaced.

- The part number for the control panel frame AP2040491

Gene.
