So, we have this old Tappan. Has been reliable for years....we have owned the house for 14 years and itwas with the house when we bought it. We think it has to be25 years old at least.

Having an issue with the top rack dishes remaining dirty.

Have looked inside the machine while its running to note that the top wash bar doesnt seem to spin or move from where it is when I look the first time. There is some water in it when you move it though.

Aside from checking the water screen at the bottom of the unit and the water inlet valve screen (seems to fill just fine and the bottom bar and the center water "cone" work fine)

ANything else I can check for? Being that its old I am tempted to just replace it with a quieter unit, but seems like they just dont make them like they used to, so would like to repair this one if I can do it inexpensively and quickly enough.

Any ideas?

I did read elsewhere on this forum that the Fridgidaire units (which I think is similar to mine, yes?) have a system where the top bars DOESNT always spin...so how can I test that it spins at all?

Thanks in advance for your help!
