Default bosch sat for 4 months
Model Number: shu9905uc   Brand: Bosch   Age: 1 - 5 years

I recently completed a kitchen remodel that took 4 months. The contractor warned me that 50% of the time the dishwasher won't work after sitting around unused. At any rate, it drains and even starts to fill with water but then a hum (i'm assuming the motor) goes on for 8-10 seconds then shuts off. A repairman said it was a bad motor ($500!) Surely there is a way to unfreeze the motor?
I've been reading that on most dishwashers, you can rotate the motor blades and getting it going again. But Bosch conceals the motor in plastic. I've even tried to loosen the pump impeller(?) Still stuck. ANY help will be greatly appreciated. I really don't want to go dishwasher shopping after all of this...

I had the same thing happen to mine. Due to another problem I just stopped using my Bosch for a while and finally decided it was time to fix it and much to my surprise I had the original problem and a new one, this. Well, although it was difficult, I did manage to get it to work. I tried to do it without taking the machine apart, but ultimately had to remove it to get it to work. After removing it and cleaning it, using a mild lubricant, and turning it for a while, I put it back in and it started humming away. Well, back to my original problem. Hope you get yours fixed.
