Hi,
My 5 year old Bosch dishwasher is used daily and the other night made a horrific loud grinding noise that even woke up my dogs! I turned it off and cleaned out the trap finding a little piece about the size of an almond. The piece looks like metal colored plastic on the front with "MONOPOL" stamped on it and black on the back. The dishwasher is not working right, won't dispense soap properly now & the timer seems to stay stuck on 1 minute for 30 minutes. Any ideas? Thanks so much!

Does the circulation (aka a wash) pump work?

Here are the break down diagrams for the Bosch dishwasher Model SHX56B05 UC/14 (FD 8211-)

I have a similar problem with a Bosch SHU4006C/U06 dishwasher. It makes the noise at various times during the cycle and sometimes goes on for several seconds. It doesn't stop when opening the door or turning off the water supply. Even more puzzling is that it sometimes goes for several weeks without making the noise, then it'll start up again.

I'm considering buying the circulation pump repair kit but it seems to me that if there is a problem with the pump it would make the noise constantly.

Any input is appreciated.

Kent,

This is very strange, especially if it does it with the open door. I do not think this the pump. I'm stumped.

Could it be the inlet valve? The noise often occurs after I hear water running.

Yes, it could and such problem is pretty common, but any noise should stop if the door is open.

A new problem now. The dishwasher quit completely part way through the rinse cycle last night. I assume it's something power related.

Kent,

The first thing I would do at this point is verify the power source. Check the power outlet for 120 VAC. Remove the toe panel and check the junction box under the dishwasher for proper wire connection.

If there is nothing wrong then open the fascia panel and check the "on-off" switch and the door latch switch.

Here are the break down diagrams, the parts list and the wiring diagram for the Bosch dishwasher Model SHU4006 UC/06

It was a tripped circuit breaker. Now it's back to making the obnoxious noise.
