This may sound strange to those you that deal with this daily, but when cleaning out the bottom of my dishwasher I found pieces of what I have determined to be the "Check Valve" that goes inside the spray arm base...I have ordered a new one, but since a check valve is normally directional, I was wondering if any of you learned technicians could give me any pointers on installing the new one to ensure it gets installed correctly.

Thanks
Bill

If you mean the following then when you install it you will see that there is only one way that it can go in and actually close flush so it will seal the hole in the spray arm throat.
