OK, my wife made me scrap the GE and we got a used Frigidaire. The power cord from the GE had black, white, and a green wire while the dishwasher had the stripped ends of a black wire, a white wire, and a ground screw on the frame.
I hooked black to black, white to white (using splice connectors, not caps), and I put a spade connector on what I thought was the ground wire.... what I hope was the ground wire.
When we put the juice through the system, water started moving through the unit but the control buttons don't seem to be working correctly. initially they kept flashing, then only the normal wash selection would light up. Any other button pushing just caused the delay time indicator to move and now we can't get it to start.
Did I wire it up wrong? Did something get tripped when the ground wire came loose? Or did something else get screwed up before I got the unit?
One other thing just came up. When the door closes, it automatically begins to hum like it's trying to do something.
I'd appreciate any suggestions, I'd hate o think I just paid 50 bucks to haul off someone's garbage.
