Water and drain hookup

Brand: Whirlpool Age: 5 - 10 years

Are there any "universal" water and drain hookups. I have a Whirlpool dishwasher that is 5-10 years old and it won't fit on my faucet. I am not sure of the model but was wondering if there were any generic fits all hookups.
