Did you check for continuity the high limit thermostat (#29 on the diagram)?

- The high limit thermostat Part number: AP2109201
Part number: AP2109201

It seems like we are having the same exact problem as the above. We have not replaced anything yet and I'm wondering should we start with the thermostat instead of the heating element. The inside of our dishwasher is never hot. what do you think?

You have to have a simple multimeter to check all questionable parts before order any.

In order to provide more accurate advice we need the complete model number of the dishwasher.

Oh, i'm sorry, it's the same model as the previous poster's problem. it's a Kenmore #587.15173400. The water never gots hot, nor does the drying cycle. We are thinking is the heating coil or the thermostat. Sounds similar to the above problem. Our dishes ar never clean enough.

You are on the right track. Most times the same problem means the same solution. So, you have to check for continuity the heating element and the high limit thermostat.

- The high limit thermostat Part number: AP2109201
Part number: AP2109201

- The heating element Part number: AP4424048
Part number: AP4424048
