Model Number: GU2500XTPT3 Brand: Whirlpool Age: 5 - 10 years
Hi, I'm dealing with a Whirlpool GU2500XTPT3 dishwasher, and
would appreciate advice. The unit is about 5 years old and worked well until several months ago. Recently we have been finding bits of food and detergent grit on dishes on the top rack. Bottom rack seems to be doing ok. I have flushed out the feeder tube numerous times, made sure the top spinner and the two spray arms are cleaned out and turning freely. Twice I have found cherry pits or pieces of scotch tape obstructing two of the channels of the inlet protector, but even after these were removed, the problem persisted. The check valve and chopper are both in great shape. I found an accumulation of mineral deposits partially blocking the water inlet valve, so I ordered and installed a new valve. This reduced the crud quite a bit, but we still find tiny bits of food and detergent grit on the top of dishes on the top rack and on the inside of upside-down glasses on the top rack. The soils accumulator screens are all intact and the accumulator has been cleaned out. We are using a rinse aid. I have not investigated the motor separation screen since I have no access to the rear of the unit without completely removing it, although this can be done if necessary. I added a gallon of hot water at the beginning of the wash cycle (LED 71) and also at the beginning of the rinse cycle (LED 44) without seeing improvement, so the problem doesn't seem to be caused by lack of water. The accumulator has a hole in its top shaped like a telephone jack - see the Appliance Parts Pros.com Discount Appliance Parts – Appliance Repair Parts parts detail for the accumulator assembly part number AP3609773. In my dishwasher there is nothing in this hole. After reviewing the Wash/Rinse Function description on page 9 of the KD-12 Job Aid service manual, it seems to me that the hole would account for my problem, since it would enable some soils to bypass the accumulator screens. The Pump and Motor Parts diagram shows nothing in the hole, although I'm thinking maybe the thermistor would fit it. Can someone tell me for sure what fits into this hole? If not, any ideas on how to get rid of the food/detergent? Thank you. Ads By Google Related Models |
