I am unable to press any control buttons on the door because there seems to be no power to the lights or controls. I have already tried to change the door latch and handle which did not work. Can you give me some indication what the problem may be and the part I may need to solve the problem. Appreciate your help.

Do you have a meter? Can you do a few electrical tests?

I do not have a meter. There seems to be some power if you slam the door but still will not turn on the dishwasher.

You can get a good meter (not really expensive, and useful to have around the house) at your local home builders' store, or electronics store. It doesn/t need to be fancy...All you really need is the abilith to check for electricity (voltages up to 240VAC; resistance (and continuity). I would start by checking the electrical connections to the dishwasher (under the tub, behind the toe panel. Check for 120VAC; AND for good secure connections. If the incoming power is good, next check the integrity and continuity of te door switches.

Bear in mind that there is no shame in not feeling comfortable with electrical testing. If you rather call in a pro just for the diagnosis, you can still save a bunch of money by doing the labor yourself. Let us know what you find.
