Ok here is what I have checked. Checked to make sure unit is getting power. It is. Power is getting to door switch. Door switch, with door closed, is sending power to control board. Control boards constant power source is hot.
What I have noticed. When I press one of the wash settings, a different setting light, lights up ( dimly ) as long as I am pressing a setting. Unit never comes on. Never hear any solenoid opening or anything. Any clues as to what I should check next? Thanks, Randy

Here are your parts includes a wiring diagram. Replacement parts for MAYTAG MDB5601AWW Dishwasher - Undercounter | AppliancePartsPros.comI am assuming you are using a meter to check the power. I would check the Neutral to Line. Could be you have lost Neutral and are feeding back through the ground wire. If power is OK then odds are the control board is toast. You may want to disconnect various parts to see if that will give you a proper display could be something is pulling the line down but this is a long shot. |

I checked the neutral at the door switch and it appeared to be good. Both door switchs seemed to be working when checked with a volt meter. I'll go back and double check and try your suggestions. Thanks, Randy

I have a simmular problem. the dishwasher will not turn on. i have lights on the panel. cycles are selectable. options change with cycles but cannot be changed by pushing buttons. auto clean, start / cancel, delay buttons do nothing. i think it is a control board buy i would hate to repalce it and it be the panel. i also checked the door switches and removed alll the connectors and the ribbon cable and cleaned them. no help.

I feel your pain Larry. The control panel is $167 and the control board is $109. My dad is very knowledgeable about electronics, but without a schematic we can't do much testing. Randy
