My dishwasher began leaving dirty water in the bottom of the basin after a wash. The drain pump was not working. It also had a slow leak from the drain pump. The drain hose was clear. So, I replaced the drain pump (easy enough), but now the new one runs constantly. If the machine is plugged in and the door is latched, then the drain pump is running. How do I get it to run only when it's supposed to?

Most likely the problem is a faulty control board.

In order to provide the right part number for the control board I need the serial number of the dishwasher.

Could the currosion on the electrical connection to the drain pump have anything to do with it? The control board seemed to be fine before the drain pump quit working and started leaking.

Replace the wires terminals, it's always good to have them new. I still suspect the control board.

the serial number is 16527672CJ. Can you help find a control board?

I replaced the control board and now the drain pump runs only when it is supposed to. Thank you. However, during a rinse cycle something was leaking water on to the outside of the drain pump, which I suspect is what caused it to fail in the first place. The trouble is I can't see what the leak is coming from. There is no seal there to spring a leak, there is no crack in the tub, etc... Attached is a picutre of the drain pump and the location of the mystery leak.

It's very hard to pinpoint water leak by viewing this picture. If you can remove the dishwasher from the cabinet and run it through a whole cycle monitoring this part of the dishwasher, then it might help you to determine where it's leaking from.
