kitchenaid dishwasher won't start

I have a KitchenAid dishwasher model kudm220t5. Yesterday, it wouldn't start when the Start button was pressed. I performed some initial troubleshooting -- checked the circuit, made sure the dishwasher drawers were in place, etc. There's absolutely no indication that I'm doing anything differently than the 1000 other times I've started this appliance.

Any suggestions for troubleshooting before I initiate a service call?

Kind of weird. My kitchenaid dishwasher stopped working around September 30. I am surprised you didn't get any responses. I checked all the obvious things too. The kitchenaid website is useless for this problem.
