Angry Water Leak Boot part # 505
Model Number: GSD4310   Brand: GE   Age: 5 - 10 years

I have replaced part # 505 the boot at the rear of the Dishwasher. I do not have a water leak when the washer is filling with water. When the motor/food grinder start water leaks from the side of the boot. Does the boot need to be silconed in place?

Hi echen

The inlet sump (you called it "boot") does not need a silicone or any other kind of sealant. It has to be installed in the right way with the sump cap (#508 on the dish washer body break down diagram) in place and the sum cover (#506 on the dish washer body break down diagram) attached on the top with the two screws holding everything together.
If all of these parts assembled in the right way, it's not suppose to leak.

Also check the clamp were the pump inlet comes into the sump under the dish washer (#452 on the wash system break down diagram). It might be loose or the pump inlet inserted improperly.

Good luck.
Gene.
