Model Number: KUDR25SHBL1 Brand: Kitchen Aid Age: 5 - 10 years
When one of the wash cycles is selected the child lock light comes on. According to the manual to engage or disengage the child lock feature , the Energy Saver Dry button is to be pushed in for three seconds. I have tried that but it does not work. I also flipped the breaker for about 1 hour hoping this would reset the dishwasher but it does not help. The only way to disengage the light is to open the door. But when a cycle is selected the child lock feature is engaged and you are locked out. Any suggestions?

Hi Lou
The problem with your dishwasher is one or more pads on the control panel got stuck. The control panel (console) has to be replaced. You did not post the color of your dishwasher,so I give you part numbers for all three of them: - The part number for the black console AP2921033 - The part number for the white console AP2921034 - The part number for the biscuit console AP2921035 - Here are break down diagrams for the Kitchen Aid dishwasher Model KUDR25SHBL1 Good luck. Gene.

It's the exact same model as above (i.e., KUDR25SHBL1 that's very likely 10 years old), Gene. We're having similar problems. For example, the child lock has come on several times on its own. I discovered via Google how to shut off, but then the dishwasher wouldn't function for a while and then worked perfectly again after "resting"! KitchenAid/Whirlpool said that it's probably just an old control panel because otherwise it seems to run well. If this is an easy replacement or something that only requires minor wiring or electronic repair, we should be able to handle. Otherwise, I'm going to hire someone or go through Whirlpool, or we're going to buy another dishwasher if that isn't cost-effective. Thank you in advance for any additional input.
Kind regards, Jason |
