Model Number: DU943PWKQ0 Brand: Whirlpool Age: 1 - 5 years
The dishwasher does not drain during wash cycles or with cancel/drain. Using your diagram I have taken apart the pump assy and have found some small debris but no visible damage to any of the parts. I have checked the following:
Model #DU943PWKQ0 Motor runs and appears to spin drain impeller in the correct direction, counter clockwise looking down from the top of the impeller. Spinning the drain impeller by hand pushed water into the drain port. No damage to the wash or drain impeller. All teeth remain, no cracks, and keyway is intact. Drain hose not clogged, no air gap present. No solenoid seems to be present, just a backflow check valve which is not clogged. The only sign of damage is where the grinding impeller (item 19 in your diagram) meets the drain impeller. The spring end fits into a notch in the drain impeller to spin the grinding impeller. This notch is chipped, but the spring still fits in it and spins the grinder. All gaskets appear to be fine, and the unit has never been apart before. When opening the door to stop the drain cycle, there is a gurgling like there is some sort of backflow happening but I cannot figure out why. There are 3 check balls present, and all are in good condition. I wonder if they could have been knocked out of place to allow backflow and cavitation of the impeller? Other than that I have no ideas. Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks, Scott |

Does the dishwasher spray up water well enough to soak dishes, if not you might have a clogged screen under the spray arm housing.
If ok I would remove the drain hose from the drain and put it in a bucket. Fill dishwasher, select drain, and check for proper volume flow. If ok, you might have a clogged drain, just check.

Hi Tomas
In addition to the advices from richappy: you said there is no air gap which means the drain hose is connected straight to the garb disp. My question is: did you or someone else replaced the garb disp recently? If your answer is Yes, then is the plug in the garb disp for the dishwasher drain connection has been removed? If not that's why your dishwasher is not draining. Gene.
