[Terrible2]

My 2yr old closed the door w/the latch that locks the door shut, half-engaged and turned the dishwasher on. Not sure how long it was left on in this manner (couldn't have been too long). I came downstairs to inspect what the grinding/growling/whirring sound was and I smelled a little smoke as if something was burning.

I tried letting it run through a cycle. The water starts, but that's about it. The water will not drain and all I hear is that annoying grinding/whirring sound. Prior to this issue, the dishwasher was only used twice. It was brand new. Needless to say, I was none too happy. Since then, I've been using the DW as a dry-rack for dishes to dry on. Now, I'm tired of the DW sitting dormant in this state.

Can anyone please help me with diagnosing this problem? I'm not sure if the motor is gone or what. Please help
