Upon further thought - does this mean you would have to replace the whole motor/pump assembly anytime you replaced the pump drain valve shaft seal - which you have to replace by taking off the shaft - and by the way, the seal is a part that is suggested to also be replaced when you replace the drain solenoid...

Normally you don't remove the shaft when replacing the seal, otherwise you run into this problem, and now you may have to replace the pump/motor, unless you can figure out a way to get the shaft back into the drain flapper.

So then how do you get the seal on if you don't remove the shaft?

There is a ring on the shaft you take of, you can then slide off the old seal and put the newone on, then put the lock ring back on
