Model Number: MDB5600AWW Brand: Maytag Age: 5 - 10 years
Dishwasher started sparking from underneath. Turned off breaker, pulled unit out & unplugged. Found little metal junction box in right front corner looked burnt. Removed cover, found that whoever had installed dishwasher originally had cut off stock power cord & wired in a different/longer cord & didn't use insulated wire terminals. they just taped wires together. Figured there was a bare wire & it started shorting out in metal box. So i cut out burnt section (only a few inches) & rewired correctly with insulated terminals. Turned breaker back on, plugged unit back in. It finished its cycle, dried correctly & turned itself off when finished. Went to run unit again & no lights were on on control panel. Wouldn't do anything when hittin all the buttons on panel. Checked for power at repaired area of wiring (ok), pulled door panel & checked for power at circuit board (ok), looked closely at board & nothin looks burnt. Checked for power in/out of door switch with door closed (ok). Where do i go from here ? HELP !!!
