My sister and her NEW husband are on their Honeymoon. As a surprise, a family friend installed the dishwasher my Mom purchased them as wedding/housewarming present.

The thing is... he's not a 'finisher'. As my Mom put it. The dishwasher is installed, mounted and hooked up (and working), but it's not pretty. He's basically an installer, not a craftsman or a wood worker.

Theres a gap on both sides since the cabinet that was scarficed was bigger than the dishwasher. It's not huge, but you can see the insulation on one side and the hole just looks rough on the otherside because you can see in a bit.

I'd like to tack on some trim of some kind, fill the old cabinet hinge holes and put on some paint for them... before they come home on Weds morning.

I'm not sure if I should buy a kit or if it would be acceptable to tack in some thin wood trim. Unless they make some kind of plastic trim for these sorts of areas.

Both my dishwasher and my Mothers just slide into a perfect space so we've never dealt with this.

I'm not even sure this is acceptable to put here, but I didn't want to install something that was going to cause electical or water problems and shorten the of the machine.
