My dispenser catch stopped reseting so the soap door would not stay closed. At first I could manually reset the catch by pushing it into position so the door would engage, but then it just stuck in the open position. Of course I thought it just required a bit more force and snap, no more catch. So I started looking for the replacement part and found that the whole dispenser assembly is one part, and pricey at that. The first one I found was $200 and I eventually located it at Sears Parts #8193920 for $163, but I also noticed that they had other whirlpool dispensers for much less. So I'm wondering if there is a substitute Whirpool model, (like 9744542 $36), that will fit and hook up just the same as the KitchenAid part. If the only real difference is the rinse aid sensor, give me a break, I can do without that for $130 difference.
