control lights flashing on dishwasher
The 'normal', 'light china', and 'cancel' button lights are flashing continually. Is there a reset procedure for these models? I believe this was caused when the door was opened during the drying cycle and then closed without doing start/resume. Any help would be appreciated.

Try to unplug the dishwasher power cord (under the sink) for a few minutes and plug it back.

I've turned of the circuit breaker overnight and then when turned back on the 'light china' button goes on initially, then when I press the 'cancel' or 'start' button the 'light china', 'normal' and 'cancel' lights continually flash. The washer is under warranty for parts but labor is still at my expense. I was hoping there was an easy way to reset the machine. Thanks, Richard

Hi Richard,
A rapidly blinking LED over one or more of the keys of the keypad indicates one or more key switch lines are stuck or shorted on either the control board or the keypad. To determine which of the part is faulty, do the test recommended in the "Checking Keypad Operation" section in the tech sheet. Post the results and the color of the control panel and I'll help you with the right part number. You can buy any of the needed parts from $66 to $95 which is less than the labor charge you have to pay for a warranty service. Gene. |
Thanks for the reply, I discovered that same thing by checking the tech sheet and doing a couple of tests that it recommended. It looks like I'll need a new keypad not the control board. Richard

Gene,
I have an older model Kitchenaid (KUPC25CHSS1) with the same symptoms as RKing11. I pulled the keypad ribbon, turned on the power then shut the door w/ no response on the drain motor. Can you help me with the correct part? My control panel is black. Your help is much appreciated. Jeff |
Your problem may be the control board. I don't know what the part number for that model may be though. I don't think that it makes any difference on the color for the control panel though. I eventually replaced the keypad with a black one (it was shat was available) even though the dishwasher is stainless steel and it still worked.

jgiza25,
The model number you posted does not come up. Verify and repost it, please. Gene. |
Sorry, the "P" should be a "D" so its KUDC25CHSS1 . The unit is a stainless steel model, the console is stainless steel and the inlaid keypad is black. The control panel inside has a gray plastic housing and the board itself is tan. There were 2 parts to the ribbon pin-connection from the keypad to disconnect from the control panel . I pulled both before powering on and then closing the door - hope I did that right. Thanks for your help.

Jeff,
If the problem with your dishwasher is identical with the problem for the Richard's dishwasher then the solution is the same too - a bad console. - The part number for the console is AP3044901 Here are the break down diagrams for the Kitchen Aid dishwasher Model KUDC25CHSS1 Gene. |
