Kenmore Oven will not preheat to correct temp
Greetings all,
I'm sure hoping someone can help me with this. I have a Kenmore Electric Range about 8 yrs old that's oven is malfunctioning. The stove top and clock/panel seem to be working fine.
We had a power surge to the home about a week ago...Since then I went to preheat the oven to 350, the panel said ON and HEAT but when I opened the oven it was luke warm inside. As far as I can tell both elements are working. The oven keeps "clicking" as if it thinks it's at the right temp and shut's the heat off. Thinking it may be a dirty sensor I put the oven in self clean mode. Again, it warms up and the elements get red hot for a moment then it shuts off and turns back on 10-15 min later to do the same thing. Needless to say, it's not nearly getting to the right temp for the self cleaning mode.
I can't even get the control panel to say "PREHEAT" unless you put the oven temp to over 410-450...
So, question is....Replace a fuse? The thermostat? The control board?? I'm not sure if the power surge we had has anything to do with it, seeing that I didn't go to use the oven till days after, but I wouldn't rule it out. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!
Thanks!
