I’m struggling to understand my Viking side by side built in refrigerator issue. A few weeks ago the temp alarm sounded. I turned it off, and everything seemed ok. Then, it sounded again. This time, both freezer and fridge sections were obviously not cool enough.
I had a service tech come out and take a look. They said that components at the top of the unit were very dusty/dirty. They cleaned the areas and instructed me to leave the refrigerator off until the next day and “see what happens”. The tech suggested that if it didn’t work, they should service the freon.
Well, it got cold! Then a few days later, it stopped working again. Rather than recall the tech, I just turned it off again. Then when I turned it back on, it once again got cold. Clearly not a freon issue (or am I crazy?).
Also, when the refrigerator is not working, the divider between the fridge and freezer gets very warm.
Why does powering the appliance off allow it to work? I’ve turned it off for as little as 5 minutes and it starts working again.
Help! And thanks.
