I believe there is nothing wrong with your dishwasher. According to the Whirlpool installation instruction the dishwasher has to be connected to 120V, 60-Hz, 15 or 20 amp, fused electrical supply. Also Whirlpool recommended a time-delay fuse or a circuit breaker and a separate circuit. The connection to a GFI (ground fault interrupter) is wrong because of overloading. Try to plug your dishwasher in an outlet with a regular circuit breaker.
