Gas Odor from Dryer in Laundry Room
Model Number: MDG6000AWW Brand:
More than 10 years
We have a gas odor in our laundry room emanating apparently from our dryer. I have used a soap solution on all the gas pipe fittings and all seems okay. I turned off gas block valve and odor disappeared, turned it back on and odor came back. I then unplugged the dryer, removed the front panel and put soap solution on the gas valve and fittings, again no sign of leak. My question is: could the gas valve be leaking a small amount of gas that goes out of the venturi by the ignitor or secondly could the coils be bad? The cost of the gas valve is $161 and my wife says she would consider a new dryer if that is the cause. I replaced belt, seals and motor two years ago and the dryer works great, we just have the gas odor. Looking for a simple fix.
