Washer knocks when agitating
Model Number: MAV9657EWW Brand: Maytag Age: 5 - 10 years
My Maytag Ensignia Model MAV9657EWW washer makes a loud knocking noise when agitating. Frequence matches the oscillating speed. The machine stopped working and stalled the motor (thermal oveload) When the thermal overload reset I was able to use the spin cycle to pump the washer down.
The agitator clutches seem ok (can be rotate one direction, locks up going the other direction. The tub cannot be easily rotated by hand in either direction.
Sound like a bad transmission or something else?
Any ideas on where to look?
