cook top lights on whirlpool micro hood
A bit of googling indicates that the lights on these units tend to be a common problem. Mine were fine until the other day when we had a power outage. I'm guessing the inrush surge popped the board. Everything else on the unit works fine.
The simple answer is to replace the board...at roughly the cost of a new unit. Kind of steep just to fix my wife's favorite night light.
I was thinking of breaking out the soldering iron and replacing what I figured would be a faulty relay. Now I am looking at the wiring diagram and I see some notation that is new to me.
Anybody done a board level repair on one of these?
The mico controller side of the circuit seems to function fine. The turntable and fan controls function and the unit beeps when I hit the lights button. The wiring diagram shows standard relays for the turntable and the vent, but the lights show up as attached to PH1 and VR2. I can't find any notation on what PH stands for anywhere? The resistor I'm guessing has something to do with the dual brightness modes. Any thoughts?
